If an outstanding hunt is your goal, all you have to do is step out of the truck into a shooting pit. Then you'll be ready for an unforgettable morning's shoot. Combine goose, duck and upland gameFrom the start of waterfowl season until approximately October 20, goose hunting is allowed only in the morning. While Thistlethwaite guides spot and set up your next morning's hunt, you will be able to take advantage of some terrific duck hunting in the afternoons. After all, 40 percent of North America's duck population hatch in the wetlands of Saskatchewan. Here you will find one of the largest duck populations in the world. If you would like an afternoon of Sharptail Grouse and Hungarian Partridge shooting, or an extra afternoon duck hunt, (two afternoons of duck hunting or upland game hunting are included in your package) we can readily accommodate you.Fishing Information
Another very interesting opportunity in the afternoon, in the early season, is an afternoon of fishing on Lake Diefenbaker for Walleye, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout or Perch - all excellent eating and fun to catch!We supply the equipment - rods, bait and lures, boat and guide for an afternoon of great fishing. AccommodationsAccommodations are provided at a first-class motel in Swift Current, just a twenty minute drive by paved road from our farm. This motel, considered to be one of the best in Saskatchewan, has many features including licensed dining, attached bar/lounge, computer access and cable T.V. Your fully-modern rooms have two double beds, and your dog (if you plan to bring one) is welcome to stay in the room with you for a minimal charge.A continental breakfast and beverage will be provided at the motel's lobby each morning and a large noon meal will be provided family style at our farm after each morning hunt. Good shopping and last minute supplies are also available in Swift Current. Hunters travelling by motor home or camper trailer are welcome to set up in Thistlethwaite's farmyard. Electricity and water hook-ups are available. Thistlethwaite Outfitters can accommodate large or small groups, but a party of four is the minimum. If you hunt by yourself or have a smaller group, we will attempt to match you up with other hunters to reach the required minimum. There is no hunting allowed on Sundays, so reservations can be made from Monday through Wednesday, Thursday through Saturday, or for the entire six-day week. Not Included In Package
![]() How to get thereSwift Current is located approximately 150 miles west of Regina, Sask., 150 miles north of Malta, Montana or 140 miles east of Medicine Hat, Alberta.Swift Current is not served by commercial airlines, but it does have an excellent lighted airport with paved runways. If flying your own plane or coming by charter, rental vans are available at a reasonable price. If you are flying to Saskatchewan, Regina Airport is accessible by a paved divided highway, a pleasant two-hour drive to the east of Swift Current. Saskatoon Airport is a two and a half hour drive to the north of Swift Current on a single lane highway. Other airports within driving distance are Minot, North Dakota, Great Falls and Billings, Montana, or Calgary, Alberta. (All approximately a six-hour drive.) Arrive at our farm by following the Number 4 highway north of Swift Current. The town of Stewart Valley is approximately 20 miles to the north. Continue on the highway past Stewart Valley, one mile.
